Vision
Co-creation of knowledge and solutions
The Centre for e-health will cooperate both internally with other academic environments at the university, and externally with other research environments, the health services, industry and commerce, and user environments.
Through co-creation, the centre will function as a driving force for the development of efficient and user-friendly health services that better address the needs of the users.
We wish to contribute with user-oriented research at a high international level with focus on interaction and ehealth (telemedicineand welfare technology)
The strategy and the societal mission
Our aim is to use technology as a means to promote innovative and efficient user-centered health services. We wish to contribute to bringing Agder to the forefront regarding interaction in the health sector and as a model region for research and innovation.
Specific targets for patients and end users are:
- Safety and security
- Empowerment and independent ways of living
- Better quality of life
- Active and healthy aging
Specific targets for the health services are:
- More goal-oriented and cost-effective patient care with an increased perception of quality.
- New and improved practices
- Involvement of users, next of kin and care volunteers
- Ethically responsible use of health technology

Learning and education for the future
The centre will
- contribute to the integration of research and education within ehealth
- contribute to strengthening teaching competence within ehealth
- stimulate critical reflection and ethical thinking
Operational targets:
- We wish to contribute to e-health becoming an integrated part of current study programmes (health, social sciences, technology) at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD level.
- We wish to contribute to the master’s programme in health informatics
- We wish to offer a PhD course in e-health
- We wish to offer continuing and further education according to needs
Global Mindset
The centre will
- strengthen our research quality through international research cooperation
- strengthen our position as an attractive partner for cooperation
- integrate global issues and contribute to meeting global challenges
- make our research internationally visible
Operational targets:
- We wish to develop a long-term cooperation with selected national and international partners that focus on e-health
- We will develop a binding cooperation with national and international networks
- Through our position as ‘reference site’ in the European Innovation Partnership (EU’s EIP), we will contribute to upholding the interests of the region
- We will take part in international research programmes (Horizon, AHA, Interreg)
Social involvement and innovation
The centre will
- contribute to solving the future’s complex challenges within health care
- develop new models for co-creation of technological solutions and work processes
- develop a culture for co-creation in close interaction with the world around us
- participate in the social debate and contribute to critical reflection
Operational targets:
- Close cooperation with the health services, primarily in Agder, and with State agencies
- Close cooperation with industrial partners
- Close cooperation with user organisations and representatives.
