Research Ethics Committee

The Research Ethics Committee at the University of Agder is a central advisory body, which reports to the Board.

The committee examines cases of potential breaches of recognised research ethical norms at the University of Agder, when these are presented to the committee in accordance with the guidelines for handling such cases. The committee provides advisory opinions, and it is the Rector who makes the final decision in cases considered by the committee.

The committee can, if necessary and requested, evaluate research ethics issues in research projects, including those conducted at other research institutes in the region.

The Research Ethics Committee consists of five members, two of whom are external, and is chaired by one of the external members. The chair and committee members are appointed by the Board every three years, with the option of reappointment.
