I like to see the differences between cultures

It’s so easy to go on Erasmus in Southern Europe for Italian people, while it’s not as intuitive to choose Norway, where you can experience such different places and people, with different lifestyles.

Tell us about you

I am Tommaso Stefani, I come from a small Italian city, Tarquinia, next to Rome. I am a Master’s degree student in Marketing and Certification of Quality at the Tuscia University of Viterbo, where I learnt to love economics and law.  I like trekking, the automotive world, reading, but the thing I love most is nature, and Norway is the perfect place for nature lovers.

Why did you choose Norway?

I chose Norway because I like to see the differences between cultures. It’s so easy to go on Erasmus in Southern Europe for Italian people, while it’s not as intuitive to choose Norway, where you can experience such different places and people, with different lifestyles.

How was your arrival?

My arrival was perfect: the ESN buddies were very welcoming. I really like the University of Agder, because everything is at your fingertips and automated and the staff is very helpful. I have never felt left behind. If you have any issue, there is always someone available to ask for help and guidance.

How is the quality of education of the University?

The quality of education is high, with many international professors with inspiring background and work experience. The courses are not difficult if you attend all the lectures and study regularly. There is more focus on project work with other fellow students than back in my home country, which helps in getting to to know more people and compare directly my ideas with those of others.

What’s your favourite place in Kristiansand and why?

My favourite place in Kristiansand is the Inverted Boat (Omvendte Båt) near the hiking trail next to the University: from this place I can see all the skyline and the sea; I go there quite often with my friends to enjoy the hiking and the relaxing.

Have you planned any trips?

I would like to travel to Northern Norway to see the Northern Lights, but also not so far from Kristiansand you can find many places to visit like Trolltunga, Prekestolen, Oslo and Bergen. The city is very well connected to Denmark, through ferry, and to Poland, through plane.

Tell us about you

Why did you choose Norway?

How was your arrival?

How is the quality of education of the University?

What do you like most in Kristiansand and why?

Have you planned any trips?
