Please introduce yourself

I am a 24-year-old Musicology student from Helsinki, Finland. I am taking a semester of my Master's studies as an exchange student at UiA.

Why did you choose Norway?

I like that everything is modern and working so well in Norway. I would like to learn the language and see the nature.

When looking at universities, what stood out to you about UiA?

I wanted to travel to a smaller city and UiA had suitable courses for me offered in English.

What were your first impressions upon arrival?

The first thing I noticed is that everybody is so friendly here! I also find the campus and the surroundings really beautiful.

What do you think about the course in particular?

I really like the courses, they are so practical. We learn a lot that we can user later in our careers.

What do you like about Kristiansand and why?

I love the hiking possibilities, the sea, and that you can walk to almost everywhere!

What was one thing you discovered about Norway that was unexpected?

I was surprised how friendly Norwegians are, and how well then have taken me into the courses.

What would you like to share about the study programme to your home country?

The programme is a bit different from the one I'm attending at my home university. Here we learn practical matters about music as a business and also as an artistic project. In Helsinki, the focus is more on music cultures and other humanistic issues.

Do you think UiA has given you any unique opportunities?

Yes! I have already learned so much that I can use in my future career. It’s also great to learn things from a Norwegian perspective and widen my picture of the world!
