The purpose of this master-level course is to introduce UiA students to co-creation across disciplinary settings, sectors of the economy and organizational boundaries in a regional context. Through cooperation and dialogue, efforts are made to solve complex regional challenges facing actors (mostly across the public sector) in Southern Norway. In this course, students will be at the forefront of a collaborative learning process where action research, problem-based learning and design thinking are the methodological frameworks being used.
Students from different subjects and disciplines, such as pedagogics, nursery and engineering education, economics, political science, music and sociology, meet to collaborate on finding new approaches and solutions. Working together in interdisciplinary teams, students test new solutions to concrete and complex challenges on behalf of, and in direct cooperation with, actors in the region. In so doing, students are trained both to analyse and work with such challenges in real life situations. Throughout the semester, students gain first-hand experience in working in a process-oriented manner.
There are two work requirements: 1) Individual research diary; and 2) Group submission of report in connection with the groups¿ final presentations. Assessment is divided into two distinct parts with the following partial exams:
1) Oral group presentation, counting for 40% of the grade.
2) Individual oral exam, counting for 60% of the grade.
