Prerequisites
All courses or similar in the first and 40 credit points from the second year must be passed. Compulsory work in ML-302, ML-308 and ML-309 must be passed.
Learning outcomes
The main aim of external practical training is that the students, by taking part in daily laboratory routines, become familiarised with their future professional role and develop an understanding of the importance of cooperation with colleagues and other professional groups and how a hospital is organised.
The learning outcomes are described in greater detail in the document "Plan for practical training¿ found in the course room on Canvas.
Course contents
Medical laboratory technology involves external practical training in hospital laboratories, and comprises practical training for nine weeks in different laboratory specialities.
Quality development and internal control mechanisms constitute a central part of the training.
The contents of the course are described in great detail in the document "Plan for practical training¿ found in the course room on Canvas.
Teaching methods
The practical teaching is comprised of supervising and instruction in hospital laboratories and includes reporting and presenting bio-engineering related exercises. The exercises require mandatory submission of reports.
Examination requirements
Laboratory reports and practice courses must receive approval before students are allowed to take the examination.
Assessment methods and criteria
The practice courses are assessed with Pass/Fail grades. Students will receive written notification if there is any question regarding the approval of their exercises. If not passed, the student must take at least four weeks again. Students will receive written notification and offered conversation if all or part of the practice has failed.
Evaluation
