Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the student will
be able to explain what is meant by "the broad" understanding of the subject theory
be able to analyze sports biomechanics (individually and collectively) in general and in the selected sport (technical and tactical)
be able to justify pedagogical measures to promote appropriate biomechanical solutions in general and in the selected sport (technical and tactical)
be able to demonstrate basic skills in the selected sport and account for the central characteristics of the activity, prevalence and historical development
be able to demonstrate basic skills in a variety of time-related activities and explain the key characteristics of the activities, prevalence and historical development
be able to reflect upon the importance of explicit and implicit learning processes in different activities
Course contents
Different working methods and teaching methods in sports activities
Sports of current interest
Choice between specialization within the categories individual or team sports.
The number of offered specializations depends on the number of students. At least two specializations within each category will be given.
Activity theory will serve as both a basis and as a specific arena for the more theoretical subjects in the study programme.
The course will be under continuous assessment and development, and activities offered may be subject to change.
Teaching methods
Instruction will be given as lectures, practical work and projects. The course assumes a great deal of self study.
Compulsory attendance requirements in practical sports (a minimum of 80% attendance).
Estimated student workload is about 270 hours.
Examination requirements
Approved participation in practical sports and activities.
Assessment methods and criteria
A graded two-week written assignment in sports analysis (report) in groups.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
