On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
provide a survey of the essential features of animal systematics and taxonomy
provide a statement of environmental adaptations and relationships among the principle groups of animals, with a special reference to Scandinavian groups
identify a selected number of animal species/groups
Course contents
Zoological systematics and taxonomy
Principal features of the ecology of major animal groups
Main outlines of phylogeny and the relationship between animal phyla
Identification of animal species/groups according to prescribed list of species.
Teaching methods
Teaching methods are lecturers, laboratory exercises and field work.
The course has an expected scope of work of 270 hours.
Examination requirements
Compulsory attendance in field work and laboratory exercises.
