We really look forward to seeing new students at semester start and will do everything we can to return to normal as soon as possible! Together with the towns of Kristiansand and Grimstad, we want to make sure you get a good start to student life – both academically and socially.
On Monday, 16 August, the semester starts with an introductory meeting for your study programme, the buddy scheme, and social activities.
“The last year has shown us how important physical meeting spaces are for the students, and right now all efforts are being made to facilitate as much on-campus activity as we possibly can from the start of the semester”, says UiA Rector Sunniva Whittaker.
At UiA you can meet course teachers and take part in academic events from day one.
“It is important for us to combine the academic with the social. We will adhere to all infection prevention recommendations and will supplement with online solutions, but the goal is to provide on-campus learning for as many students as possible.”
UiA continues its collaboration with the towns of Kristiansand and Grimstad to utilise premises off campus to expand the option for in-person instruction in the autumn semester.
“We are fortunate to have such good outdoor spaces and good weather, which gives us the opportunity to organise social activities at semester start. The whole town and campus area was used at last year’s semester start to ensure we could welcome our students in a safe manner during the pandemic. We hope to be able to meet our students both indoors and outdoors this year”, says Whittaker.
A smooth and safe start for everyone
All new students should get a good introduction to their studies. And we know that social interaction plays an important role in academic achievement. A buddy scheme will be set up to allow you to meet and get to know your fellow students, UiA, and the town.
“If you’ve been offered a place, you have every reason to look forward to what awaits!”
