Introductory meeting for your programme
It is important that you attend the introductory meeting for your study programme:
Date: Monday 14 August
Time: 11:00-12:00
Place: G1017
You will receive an SMS on the day before semester start about registering your attendance. You can only do this after you have received a code which you will get at the introductory meeting of your programme. Further information will be given at the introductory meeting.
If you have not received an SMS before the introductory meeting, please send an email to help@uia.no.
The introductory meetings are mandatory for all new students and students who have been admitted for the autumn semester.
Are you not able to attend the introductory meeting?
All new international students at UiA are allocated a buddy group. We recommend that you get involved right from the start to get to know your fellow students, campus, and the city. The buddies are experienced UiA students who organise social events and do their best to ensure you have a good semester start at UiA. Your buddy will contact you before semester start to provide you with further information.
You will meet your buddy on Arrival Day Thursday 10 August. All international students will meet at Orientation Day Friday 11 August (for international students only).
Introduction to digital tools
On Tuesday 15 August, UiA Help invites new students to an introduction to digital tools.
The course will be held in English at 10.15-11.00 in B1 018.
The following points are covered during the course:
User account - username, password, two-factor authentication
Student ID card - submit photo online - photo requirements - access to printers/buildings/library resources - Student ID app - valid identification required
Studentweb - register and pay (by 1 September)
Computer requirements - Windows/Mac – support
WiFi - eduroam - internet access on and off campus (eduVPN)

Teaching in the autumn of 2023
We want all our students to get to come on campus and get a good mix of in-person instruction, workshops, and online teaching. UiA is committed to providing as much in-person teaching and social meeting points as possible, especially for new students, to help all new students settle into academic and social life at UiA.
To get access to Canvas, where you will find updated information about everything you need for your studies, you have to register for classes. We recommend that you register as soon as you receive a username and password – you can do this before semester start. You will receive your username and password via SMS the week before semester start at the latest.

You can find the schedule for you program at uia.no/en/student/schedules-at-uia We expect to publish the schedule for this autumn in July / August.
Equipment
As part of preventing infection, various measures have been implemented at the Faculty of Fine Arts. This also applies to the use of the faculty's equipment. The Faculty of Fine Arts recommends that all students bring their own equipment where possible. You can read more about our guidelines for equipment and lending of equipment here.
What will you learn?
The ECTS course catalogue gives you details about what you are going to learn in each course (subject), what you can expect and what is expected of you. It is important that you familiarise yourself with the course plan for your programme.
At the Faculty of Fine Arts, you as a student can get involved. here are many different areas where you can get involved.
