Previous research includes analysis of the electricity production from solar cells in Norway, field testing of PV modules, characterization of solar cell silicon, solar cells used in zero energy buildings and monitoring of the energy consumption in modern homes.

Projects

Member of the research group for energy materials. Ongoing research includes new methods for conversion of heat to electricity and theoretical analysis of advanced photovoltaic concepts. Is also involved in research on silicon solar cells through supervision/co-supervision of the following PhD-students:

  • Charly Berthod, “Temperature coefficients of multicrystalline compensated silicon solar cells”:The project aimed at investigating how material and cell parameters impact the temperature coefficients of multicrystalline silicon solar cells. Charly Berthod received his degree in January 2017.
  • Sissel Tind Søndergaard: The project aims at explaining the fundamental mechanisms behind the findings of Charly Berthod. Similar cells will be characterized with methods like light beam induced current (LBIC), photoluminescense (PL) and suns-Voc. Sissel Søndergaard received her degree in December 2020.
  • Alfredo Gercia Sanchez: Is working on a projects that aims at modelling properties of solar cells mathematically. Alfredo defended his thesis in December 2022.

Parts of the research on silicon solar cells was carried out in cooperation with Elkem Solar.
