For us to deliver your work back to you on time, we need a minimum of three weeks notice before you submit your documents to us. All services are subject to our available capacity. This means that 3 weeks before you send us your work, we need a short description of the type of document (application, scientific article, etc.), page count and wordcount, description of content (scientific, liberal arts, etc.), and the date you wish it returned to you.
Important: Even if you contact us three weeks ahead of time, there are times during the year when we do not have the capacity to accept documents due to a large amount of applications which are on the way to the Norwegian Research Council or the EU. If you know for certain that you will need our assistance, book us as early as possible.
Larger documents: As we wish to assist as many people as possible, we do not have the capacity to accept large-scale documents (over 15 pages). If you need help finding external assistance, contact us and we will do our best to help!
Translation
Owing to limitations in our capacity, we cannot, unfortunately, translate course or programme descriptions (formerly the ECTS catalogue), but copy-editing may be available. Contact us for questions about other kinds of translation.
Content
In accordance with Norwegian traditions and practices in higher education, British English is the preferred variety of English for UiA in official contexts. It may well be that there are reasons to write in American English. If this is the case, we ask that you inform us of this intention when you send documents to us.
The following is typically not included in copy editing work:
Comments regarding content or structure
References
Sources
Specific requirements from publishers, clients etc.
Texts requiring specialized knowledge: In some cases, we must reject orders if we see that we do not have sufficient competence within a given area to provide satisfactory translations/editing. We will inform you of this as soon as possible.
What do the services cost?
Nothing. This is a free service for all UiA staff, contingent on capacity.
